
Sarah D. Cordova
Literacy Consultant
Sarah Cordova is a nationally recognized literacy consultant who works in elementary and middle school classrooms to develop and implement the most effective and engaging reading and writing practices. She received her master’s degree in education from New York University, was a classroom teacher in the Smithtown School District, and an adjunct assistant professor at Dowling College.
Sarah has presented at local, state, and national literacy conferences and developed numerous units of study for reading and writing workshops for Schoolwide, Inc. A picture book fanatic, she loves sharing titles and authors with teachers around the country. She is passionate about ensuring that students see themselves represented in the books they encounter—believing that authentic representation fosters confidence, belonging, and a deeper love of literacy. Sarah is currently writing a book for School Rubric entitled, The Power of Picture Books in Student Identity, to be published in 2025.
