Michael Thornton M.Ed., MAT
I am a lifelong learner. I am always trying to grow as a person, an educator, and a learner. I have been teaching for 11 years. This will be my second year at Agnor Hurt Elementary School and my eighth year teaching in the Albemarle County Public School system. I have taught kindergarten, second, third, fourth and fifth grade. In addition, I am an adjunct professor at Piedmont Virginia Community College. I am excited to be teaching in a multiage space this year. I will be working directly with 120 kindergarten through 5th grade students in one open learning space.
I have presented at many conferences and led professional development sessions on technology, classroom strategies and student engagement. Personally, I am a family man! I have three kids who are 7, 5, and 3. My beautiful wife is an accomplished figure skating coach who instructs in Charlottesville, VA and Richmond, VA. When I have free time, I love to read, watch sports, explore, and have fun with my family.
