Heather Riley
Film Producer
Heather began her career in production at a very young age with dozens of elaborate backyard performances using the neighborhood kids as cast and crew. Her passion for performance led her to a Broadcasting and Film Degree at Boston University. A summer in New York City as an intern for Tribeca Film Center broadened her interest in storytelling to include the stories of real people, not just fictional characters. Her dream of somehow doing the production work she loved while making a difference in the world came shortly after graduation in the form of Visionaries- a public television series that profiles the work of nonprofit organizations all over the world. Heather worked through the ranks at Visionaries as associate producer, producer, editor and eventually Senior Producer of Series Development covering stories about mental illness, juvenile crime, low-income housing, and social entrepreneurship.
More recently, Heather has turned her attention to educational media, producing dozens of videos featuring best practices in the classroom for Edutopia. She remains committed to nonprofit messaging and has produced several feature videos for Physicians for Human Rights, Massachusetts League of Community Health Centers, and Joslin Diabetes Center. She has produced three short narrative films and a historical documentary as well.
Heather’s passions include running, writing, and movies. In the summer, she retreats to a tiny island in Maine with her husband and three children to pursue these passions more fully.
