Her work currently explores how pedagogical approaches in social studies methods courses foster the sociopolitical and critical consciousness of teacher candidates, with particular focuses on critical historical inquiry, project-based learning, and place-based learning. Erin holds leadership roles in the field of social studies education by serving on the CUFA Motherscholars Committee and as the Communications Chair for the American Education Research Association’s Social Studies Research SIG.
